Sender Policy Framework, or SPF, is a validation system, which is used to stop the so-called email spoofing where an e-mail message is sent from one address, but to look as being sent from a different, ordinarily with the purpose to scam the recipient for some reason. If SPF protection is activated for a domain, an exclusive record is created for it in the Domain Name System and all of the DNS servers worldwide get it. The record contains all e-mail servers that are permitted to send valid messages from an address within the domain. When a message is sent, the very first DNS server it encounters verifies the SPF record and if the sending server is authorized, the message is forwarded to the targeted destination. If, however, the sending server is not present in the SPF record for the given domain, the message will not be forwarded and it'll be discarded. Whenever you use this service, it will stop third parties from sending spam messages that appear to have been sent by you.

SPF Protection in Cloud Hosting

SPF protection can be activated for any domain name hosted in a cloud hosting account on our cloud platform with just a couple of clicks. The function is accessible in the Emails section of our outstanding Hepsia Control Panel and all it takes to activate it is to pick one of your domain names from the drop-down list and to enter the hostnames and the IPv4 or IPv6 addresses of the email servers that will be permitted to send emails from your email addresses. As an additional option you may also restrict the email messages to be sent from your domain only when it has our MX records, i.e. when our servers handle the emails for it, not some third-party supplier. This solution provides you with the best level of safety, but it is not applicable when only your website is on our servers while your e-mail addresses for the domain name are handled elsewhere. Either way, the SPF protection service will keep your email addresses protected from being used for spam and scam purposes.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Hosting

The SPF protection attribute is available with all of the Linux semi-dedicated hosting services, so if you host your domains in an account on our cloud hosting platform, you can use the service easily for all of your domains. The Hepsia Control Panel, which comes as standard with the semi-dedicated accounts, offers a quite user-friendly interface, which means that you won't need to be tech-savvy to protected your email addresses. You'll only need to type the hostname and the IP of each mail server that you'd like to be authorized to send out emails from your addresses and right after that the updated record will be active for the domain name that you've selected. As an extra option, we will also allow you to limit your outgoing email messages and secure your mailboxes even further by allowing email messages to be sent only if the domain in question has our MX records i.e. the email messages for the domain need to be taken care of on our end and not by a different provider. In this way you will get even better control and there will not be any chance for someone to counterfeit your email addresses for harmful uses.
